Italian Lasagna with Mozzarella

Lasagna is one of the most famous Italian dishes worldwide, known for its wide, flat pasta layers. It’s one of the oldest types of pasta and is made by layering lasagna sheets with other ingredients like minced meat, chicken, sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Here’s the quickest and easiest recipe to prepare it, the Sidtati Kitchen way!

Cooking Time:

60 minutes

Serves:

6 people

Ingredients:

500g minced meat (beef or chicken)
1 pack lasagna sheets
1 can tomato paste
2 cups béchamel sauce (prepared)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tomatoes (finely chopped)
3 cloves garlic (crushed)
1 onion (chopped)
A pinch of black pepper
A pinch of salt
1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)

Instructions:

Cook the Lasagna Sheets:

In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the lasagna sheets according to the instructions on the package. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

Prepare the Meat Sauce:

In another pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and crushed garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant.
Add the minced meat, chopped tomatoes, and tomato paste. Season with salt and black pepper, and stir well.
Continue cooking until the meat is fully browned and cooked through.

Assemble the Lasagna:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a baking dish, start by placing a layer of cooked lasagna sheets at the bottom.
Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce evenly over the lasagna sheets.
Add a layer of the meat sauce mixture on top of the béchamel sauce.
Then, add another thin layer of béchamel sauce followed by another layer of lasagna sheets.
Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, ending with a final layer of béchamel sauce on top.

Bake the Lasagna:

Place the lasagna dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes.
Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese on top.
Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve:

Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your homemade, cheesy, and comforting lasagna!

Tips:

You can add herbs like basil or oregano to the meat sauce for an extra flavor boost.
For a vegetarian version, replace the minced meat with a mixture of sautéed vegetables or mushrooms.

This lasagna is a delicious, hearty dish perfect for family dinners or gatherings. Enjoy!
