Homemade Ketchup Recipe

Ketchup is a popular red sauce commonly served with fast food, especially with fries and burgers. The main ingredient in ketchup is tomatoes, and you can easily make it at home using simple, readily available ingredients.
Cooking Time:
60 minutes
Serves:
4 people
Ingredients:

6 garlic cloves (finely minced)
1 tbsp vinegar
5 tomatoes (peeled, pureed, and strained)
1 onion (grated)
4 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp cornstarch
A little water (to dissolve the cornstarch)
Instructions:

Prepare the mixture:

In a pot over medium heat, combine the tomato puree, grated onion, and minced garlic. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.

Add sugar, salt, and vinegar:

Add the sugar, salt, and vinegar to the tomato mixture. Stir well and let it simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.

Prepare the cornstarch mixture:

In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch with a little water to make a smooth slurry.

Add the cornstarch:

Gradually add the cornstarch mixture to the pot with the tomato sauce, stirring continuously until the ketchup thickens to your desired consistency.

Cool the ketchup:

Remove the pot from the heat and allow the ketchup to cool. Stir occasionally to prevent any lumps from forming as it cools.

Serve or store:

Serve the ketchup cold with your favorite dishes, or store it in a sealed jar or bottle in the refrigerator for later use.
Tips:
You can add spices like black pepper or paprika for extra flavor.
If you prefer a sweeter ketchup, feel free to increase the amount of sugar to taste.
Be sure to strain the tomatoes well to ensure a smooth, seedless ketchup.
Enjoy your homemade, fresh, and flavorful ketchup with your meals!
