Rice is one of the most dangerous foods to reheat. When cooked rice is cooled and left at room temperature, it can encourage the growth of Bacillus cereus bacteria, which is heat-resistant. Even if reheated, parts of the bacteria can still remain active, potentially leading to food poisoning.

Symptoms of this bacterial infection include vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps. To minimize the risk, it’s recommended to store cooked rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume it cold, or discard it if not eaten immediately.

2. Tea

Tea, one of the most popular hot beverages globally, should not be reheated. When tea is reheated, it increases its bitterness due to the accumulation of tannins, a compound that increases acidity and bitterness. Furthermore, dormant bacteria in the tea can become active during reheating, which increases the risk of infections.
